Test Target Definitions


LIVE MINE TARGET Type1: Live, fully functional production mine.

Type 1A: Type 1 without main explosive but with active fuse

STANDARD TEST TARGET (STT) Surrogate Mine (SUM) Type 2: A production mine with the main explosive charge and an inert fuse

Type 3: A production mine free from explosive (FFE)

Type 3A: The explosive is removed and not replaced

Type 3B: The explosive is replaced with an inert material

Type 4: A reproduction mine

Type 4A: Has air instead of explosive

Type 4B: Has an inert material instead of explosive

Type 4C: Has explosive and it may have a fuze

Simulant Mine (SIM):
A STT that has features representative of a category of a mine types, but does not replicate any specific mine type or model
Type 5: A SIM that contains some explosives

Type 5A: Has a main explosive charge and it may have a fuze

Type 5B: Has no main explosive charge but with an active fuze

Type 5C: Has only trace amounts of explosive, not in a fuze configuration

Type 6: A SIM that is FFE

Instrumented Mine:
used to measure parameters during a test

Type 7: When used in combination with other SUM or SIM it could be described for example Type 7-3B
CALIBRATION TARGET

Type 8: When used in combination with other SUM or SIM it could be described for example Type 8-3B
